NMR-1854

Celebrating the Present / Embracing the Future / Honoring the Past
AN OFFICIAL HISTORY OF THE NATAL MOUNTED RIFLES AND ITS ANTECEDENT AND ASSOCIATED UNITS 1854.

INTRODUCTION

It is with great pride that the Natal Mounted Rifles Board of Management has the privilege to pen this introductory note on behalf of the greater NMR family. This is aimed at stimulating interest and comment and re-kindling the personal memories of those who have served in uniform and especially those who have worn the NMR badge.

This website is part of a project to assist with the updating of the NMR History. We have assembled work of various authors and writings from various publications commencing from the very early history of NMR eventually concluding with a new and current History of Natal Mounted Rifles.

Our aim is to invite and prompt comments and anecdotes via this platform and other means to include into the final product.

The greater NMR family is the primary audience. We hope that the past, present and future generations will find this website and eventual NMR History not only a fun read but a useful research tool. We trust you will enjoy reading these publications as much as we have enjoyed bringing them to you.

Our grateful thanks to those who have contributed their time, effort and skills, to the Project. Without them this would not have been possible.
